DAILY POST: Woman files for divorce after husband failed to change his relationship status on Facebook
An Indian woman is filing for divorce after her husband failed to change his relationship status to married on social network site Facebook. The 28-year-old has already approached the family court seeking divorce saying that she can not trust him after her failed to announce their marriage on the website. The Telugu couple had an arranged marriage just two months ago and the case was filed in the jurisdiction of an Aurangabad court where the women is thought to live.? According to the Deccan Chronicle her husband? told the court that he had forgotten to update his status, but the judge has given the two parties six months to undergo counselling. Speaking to the Indian based newspaper High Court advocate Mr Subhash said, 'I came to know of the above incident from the magistrate in the Aurangabad court. 'The Hyderabadi husband had told the judge that he was so busy post marriage with family and his furniture business that he really had no time to check his FB or change his status. 'He was willing to do so now or even de-activate his account, however, the woman was not keen to continue with the marriage and she says her husband might be doing things behind her back and she couldn?t trust him.' Although there are thought to be few cases whereby the failure to change a status of a relationship has caused a breakdown?Facebook is increasingly being used?as a source of evidence in divorce cases, according to lawyers. The social networking site was cited as a reason for a third of divorces last year in which unreasonable behaviour was a factor, according to law firm Divorce-Online. The firm said it had seen a 50 per cent jump in the number of behaviour-based divorce petitions that contained the word ?Facebook? in the past two years."Mark Keenan, managing director of Divorce-Online, said: ?Facebook has become the primary method for communicating with friends for many people.?
'People contact ex-partners and the messages start as innocent, but lead to trouble. ?If someone wants to have an affair or flirt with the opposite sex then it?s the easiest place to do it.? Thirty-three per cent of the 5,000 behaviour petitions filed with the firm in the past year mentioned the site. The most common reasons for Facebook causing problems in relationships were a spouse finding flirty messages, photos of their partner at a party they did not know about or with someone they should not have been with.

Health and Fitness: Understanding the Definition of Health Related ...

Being a Health and Fitness Professional, it is my job to understand terms and definitions which are commonplace to this industry, as well to keep abreast of evolving trends. Through my experience, I have found that a number of terms deserve a little more clarification than that which they are granted.

Aside from clarifying the definition of Health Related Fitness, this article intends to shed some light on a few of the associated terms, and to show their respective distinctions.

Is it simply all in a name?

The fitness world seems to use the concept Health Related Fitness like a generic fitness principle - interchangeable with others like "Physical Fitness", "Health and Fitness" or simply "Fitness."

While all of these terms can be included under the broad term Health and Physical Fitness, they individually refer to different aspects - both generic and specific. Unfortunately, references to these and other fitness-related terms are often vague, while consistency in their intended use is meager at best; there is a kind of "generally accepted" use for them, but individuals often rely on own interpretation, and this can lead to confusion.

With that said, does Health Related Fitness simply infer fitness by means of good health? Not quite. That is why we need to understand a little more behind these words before digesting the definition.

How did the term Health Related Physical Fitness come about?

That is a good question. One could probably ask what is this concept all about - can we not simply use the terms "Fitness" or "Physical Fitness" instead?" Why Health "Related"?

The main reason stems from the fact that most health and fitness terms are used inconsistently and often refer to different concepts or notions. Subsequent to the 1996 report from the US Surgeon General (Physical Activity and Health; a report of the Surgeon General), there was a move to try and address the alarming rise in obesity levels among the general American public. Studies and initiatives required standardization among clinicians, health practitioners and fitness trainers to grapple with the task at hand. Enter "Health Related Physical Fitness", a working term to address the general state of health among the public.

The definition of Health Related Fitness

According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the main authority in this field, ineffective definitions with unclear and subjective wordings, as well as definitions containing terms which themselves require defining, have contributed to confusing the term "Physical Fitness."

There exists no reliable guide for Health and Fitness Professionals to measure "Physical Fitness", because the term has been so loosely and inconsistently defined. It is therefore that one should consider the concept of Health Related Fitness. The definition therefore centers on the 5 Components of Physical Fitness which relate to "good health." These Components are:

  • Cardiorespiratory Fitness
  • Body Composition
  • Flexibility
  • Muscular Strength
  • Muscular Endurance
On the other hand, Skill Related Fitness Components are:
  • Balance
  • Reaction Time
  • Coordination
  • Agility
  • Speed
  • Power
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the definition of Physical Fitness emphasizes the difference between Health Related Physical Fitness and Athletic Ability Physical Fitness. Its point-of-departure is the "health" of the US nation, which is often referred to as the "public health perspective." In that respect, the 5 Health Related Fitness Components are more important than those related to Athletic Ability (or Skill Related Components).

Although the concept of Health Related Fitness has an integral association with "good health", the 5 Components are addressed individually by health professionals to allow for their measurement.

Now that we have a deeper understanding of the term, what purpose does it serve?

Continuing from where the definition left off, the objective of measuring the 5 Components is to advise clients about their own particular Health Related Fitness, and to use data obtained from the tests to design appropriate exercise programs which can then be evaluated.

The 5 Components contribute evenly to make up a holistic Health Related Fitness, which is of direct interest to the health of the ordinary citizen, in that the concept is normative. In other words, it is a standard which allows for consistent application.

It is therefore important for those working in the health and fitness industry not to mistake "overall physical fitness" with "Health Related Physical fitness."

To conclude, let us consider this distinction between Physical Fitness and Health Related Fitness

One needs to bear in mind that regular physical exercise can improve overall Physical Fitness, as well as Health Related Fitness. However, overall fitness is a generic term and is up to subjective interpretation, while Health Related Fitness can be assessed.

The distinction therefore, between these two terms, exists in that Health Related Physical Fitness can be measured according to a set of established comparative norms.

This is where the "rubber hits the road." The guidelines set out by the ACSM enable health professionals to work with clients to assess and measure their response to exercise and prescribe appropriate exercise programs. A client's progress can then be monitored and adjusted where necessary in order to obtain the desired fitness goals.

Chelsea's future suddenly bright

By GRAHAM DUNBAR

MUNICH (AP) -Chelsea will be planning for the future from an unexpected position of strength as champion of Europe following its dramatic upset victory over Bayern Munich.

Since Saturday, owner Roman Abramovich has the Champions League trophy he had craved since buying the club in 2003, plus a place in next season's competition which is key to the club's business plan and status among Europe's elite teams.

Now the Russian billionaire and his advisors must decide if Chelsea's immediate future includes new contracts for inspirational interim coach Roberto di Matteo and talismanic forward Didier Drogba.

The 34-year-old Drogba staked an emphatic claim to extend his eight-year stay by heading the 88th-minute goal which leveled a one-sided match at 1-1. He then followed up by stroking home the decisive penalty in the shootout at Bayern's home stadium.

Di Matteo could hardly do more during his three-month audition since being promoted from assistant to fired coach Andre Villas-Boas, lifting the most coveted club trophy in world football, plus the FA Cup.

"Roberto is certainly in the mix and he's done a great job for us and he has to have serious consideration," Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said Sunday. "We've put (the appointment) aside for the last five to eight weeks. Now in the next few weeks we have to sit down, figure it out and do what's best for Chelsea."

The American official said chief executive Ron Gourlay will hold talks with Drogba's agent this week.

"There's a number of things we've got to look at and we'll review where we are and take it from there, but it's a phenomenal turnaround really," Gourlay said.

Chelsea's players were united in their praise for Drogba after another unlikely win to follow eliminating Barcelona in the semifinals.

"Of course, Didier is one of the best strikers in the world," said forward Juan Mata, who had Chelsea's opening penalty saved in the 4-3 shootout win. "He is very important for us, he scored a really important goal, so he deserves everything."

Drogba's wage demands would have been an expensive luxury had Chelsea lost and failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Chelsea earned around ?60 million ($77 million) in prize money from competition organizer UEFA this season. Even a one-year exile in the second-tier Europa League would hit the club's accounts as "financial fair play" rules limit wealthy owners' ability to bail out clubs which spend big on transfers and salaries.

Abramovich has subsidized total losses of around 800 million pounds ($1.27 billion), but Chelsea must generate more income than has been possible at its 42,000-capacity Stamford Bridge stadium.

"They need to do two things in the short-term," according to football finance analyst Kieron O'Connor, who writes the respected Swiss Ramble blog. "Improve commercial revenue through additional sponsorships; reduce the wage bill by offloading some of the more expensive players.

"Longer-term it's all about the stadium, hence their interest in Battersea Power Station."

Chelsea officials reportedly held recent meetings in Qatar to explore funding options, following a trail blazed by Barcelona which signed a five-year shirt sponsorship deal with the spectacularly wealthy Gulf emirate.

Abramovich's admiration for Barcelona, on and off the field, hints at Chelsea's next steps.

He is said to covet the Spanish club's former coach Pep Guardiola, who has stepped away from football after shaping the most admired team of modern times.

Guardiola seems unlikely to be tempted back so soon, even with Chelsea entering the Champions League and FIFA's Club World Cup for continental champions played in Japan in December.

Abramovich's desire for expansive, exciting football explained the hiring of Villas-Boas and the 50 million pound (then $80 million) signing of Fernando Torres in January 2011. Torres was used as an impact substitute again in Munich, and Spanish sports daily AS reported Sunday that he is unhappy with his role.

The progressive young Portuguese coach unsettled Chelsea's old guard, and dropped Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole for the season-changing defeat to Napoli in a last-16, first-leg match in February.

Villas-Boas was doomed by that 3-1 loss in Italy. Yet those same players helped Chelsea win the return 4-1 for Di Matteo, and guided the team to its Champions League title more through dogged resistance than flowing play.

Bayern had 35 shots compared to Chelsea's nine, and 20 corners against just one, which Chelsea used to great effect. Mata's delivery was powered into the net by Drogba.

It was a triumph in true Chelsea style, and could yet prove the end of an era.

Buck said the club intends to appoint a permanent manager prior to a pre-season tour of the United States that starts against Seattle Sounders on July 18.

Di Matteo spoke with Abramovich in Munich's Allianz Arena but did not reveal details of the conversation.

"He looked very happy," said the 41-year-old coach, who will likely land a top job at Chelsea or elsewhere. "Whatever the future holds for me I'd be happy, whatever the club decides I'll respect it."

Futurity.org ? Breast cancer treated with celery extract

"This is the first study to show that apigenin, which can be extracted from celery, parsley, and many other natural sources, is effective against human breast cancer cells that had been influenced by a certain chemical used in hormone replacement therapy," says study co-author Salman Hyder. (Credit: TonalLuminosity/Flickr)

U. MISSOURI (US) ? A natural substance found in celery and parsley shows promise as a non-toxic treatment for an aggressive breast cancer.

University of Missouri researchers found the substance, called apigenin, shrank a type of breast cancer tumor that is stimulated by progestin, a synthetic hormone given to women to ease symptoms related to menopause. Findings are reported in the journal Hormones and Cancer.

?This is the first study to show that apigenin, which can be extracted from celery, parsley, and many other natural sources, is effective against human breast cancer cells that had been influenced by a certain chemical used in hormone replacement therapy,? says co-author Salman Hyder, a professor of biomedical sciences.

In the study, Hyder and colleagues implanted cells of a deadly, fast-growing human breast cancer, known as BT-474, into a specialized breed of mouse. Some of the mice were then treated with medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), a type of progestin commonly given to post-menopausal women. A control group did not receive MPA.

Later one group of MPA-treated mice was treated with apigenin. Cancerous tumors grew rapidly in the mice that did not receive apigenin. In the apigenin-treated mice, breast cancer cell growth dropped to that of the control group, and the tumors shrank.

?We don?t know exactly how apigenin does this on a chemical level,? Hyder notes. ?We do know that apigenin slowed the progression of human breast cancer cells in three ways: by inducing cell death, by inhibiting cell proliferation, and by reducing expression of a gene associated with cancer growth.

?Blood vessels responsible for feeding cancer cells also had smaller diameters in apigenin-treated mice compared to untreated mice. Smaller vessels mean restricted nutrient flow to the tumors and may have served to starve the cancer as well as limiting its ability to spread.?

The mice in Hyder?s study were injected with apigenin. In the future, apigenin injections could be a safe alternative or supplement to the highly toxic chemotherapy drugs now in use.

?Chemotherapy drugs cause hair-loss, extreme fatigue, and other side effects,? Hyder adds. ?Apigenin has shown no toxic side-effects even at high dosages. People have eaten it since pre-history in fruits, vegetables, and curcumin, which is a common spice.?

Finding funding for clinical testing of apigenin in humans may be difficult, according to Hyder.

?Clinical trials of apigenin with humans could start tomorrow, but we have to wait for medical doctors to carry out that next step,? Hyder says. ?One problem is, because apigenin doesn?t have a known specific target in the cancer cell, funding agencies have been reticent to support the research.

?Also, since apigenin is easily extracted from plants, pharmaceutical companies don?t stand to profit from the treatment; hence the industry won?t put money into studying something you can grow in your garden.?

The research team included Benford Mafuvadze, doctoral student in biomedical sciences; Yanyun Liang, research scientist Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center; Cynthia Besch-Williford, associate professor of veterinary pathobiology; and Xu Zhang, visiting researcher at the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center.

'Inexact' Chips Save Power By Fudging the Math

Your definition of math is very limited. Descriptive Geometry is math too.

Path finding systems may use imprecise weight function when making decisions - calculating weights is a major burden.

Using cameras involves image analysis. In essence, you're working with what is a bunch of noise, and you analyze it for meaningful data, by averaging over a whole bunch of unreliable samples. If you can do it 15 times faster at cost of introducing 5% more noise in the input stage, you're a happy man.

In essence, if input data is burdened by noise of any kind - and only "pure" data like typed or read from disk isn't, any kind of real world data like sensor readouts, images or audio contains noise, the algorithm must be resistant to said noise, and a little more of it coming from math mistakes can't break it. Only after the algorithm reduces say 1MB of raw pixels into 400 bytes of vectorized obstacles you may want to be more precise.... and even then small skews won't break it completely.

Also, what about genetic algorithms, where "mistakes" are introduced into the data artificially? They are very good at some classes of problems, and unreliable calculations at certain points would probably be advantageous to the final outcome.
